Incredibly fast and smooth, but why the glass?
Ordered this as a replacement for my OnePlus 3 which had a great run, but the battery was on its last legs after three years.
I was split between this, the OnePlus 7T Pro and the Pixel 4. So glad I picked this! Everything about the phone is incredibly fast and smooth, loading apps, watching videos and just about anything is effortless. I'm guessing it's a combination of the processor and the screen refresh, whatever it is, it works! On top of that, Oxygen OS is really light and doesn't insist on putting white borders around all of the apps (why do all the other manufacturer interfaces do this?!)
The notch isn't too obtrusive, but still I'm looking forward to not having one. Opted against the pop up camera of the Pro because I was concerned I'd get dust from my pocket lodged (the 7T is a bit of a dust magnet, already getting some stuck in the speaker grille) in the mechanism and the increase in price wasn't reflected in the specs.
The camera is much better than expected, resolution is great and the night mode takes some awesome shots. The ones in this review probably don't do it justice, but it shows how it can pick up stars at night. I was going to download the GCam app to improve the photos but it's probably not necessary.
One thing I hadn't realised was how much the in-built speakers in phones have improved. They used to sound like someone chucked a pair of £2 headphones in a pringles can but now you can genuinely use them to listen to audio. Battery life is brilliant, usually it will get to the end of the day with over 50% remaining.
One thing I really don't understand is why they made the back glass? Without wireless charging I'm guessing this is just an aesthetic thing, but I'm really concerned that it just makes it easier to smash the thing. Same goes for the huge glass camera piece, which I've had to go out and get a protector for. I found the OnePlus 3 was incredibly durable and after many harmless drops, the screen only cracked when it landed with the headphone port in the middle of a stone. Maybe that's a good reason to ditch it in the 7T (using an adaptor isn't too much of a pain). Or it's to give it more water resistance, I'd love to see this verified in future. The OnePlus 3 was only protected by one of the branded wooden cases (would love it if they made these for the 7T) but I've played it safe this time round with some gargantuan case that makes it quite unwieldy.
Overall I'm really glad I picked the OnePlus 7T, good value (in the context of other phones out there), great specs for super fast performance and a pleasantly surprising camera.

Wow
This represents my first "real" phone, after many years of going for budget friendly models on overpriced contracts. Although this phone was paid for outright, I still consider it a bargain as I am actually paying about the same rate as I would over a 2 year contract for the galaxy a71 which is an inferior handset by all accounts.
The phone itself is handsome (I think), and very importantly seems dependable. I "trust" it, and it it is more than capable of doing what I ask of it every time. The packaging it came in is very premium, and the from the feel of the packaging, the considered note from Pete, and the items included I thought immediately I had made the correct decision and was committing to a product and ecosystem that suited my needs. The included case is actually very high quality for an included case too, and along with the factory applied screen protector makes me feel that OnePlus wish their product to be taken care of, which is what I intend to do.
The Oxygen OS is indeed (as I had read) very swift, responsive, and full of options for the user that make it clear it has been designed very much with user experience in mind. Above all else, the highest praise I can give the user experience is that it is fundamentally intuitive.
The cameras are great quality compared to what I have used before, and I especially enjoy taking macro photos of my fish. Seeing them close up is almost like meeting them for the first time.
The fingerprint scanner and face recognition are both fast and accurate, and the micro-seconds this saves all adds to the experience feeling very fast and responsive.
As this is such a big purchase for me, I have had one or two dealings with customer support regarding trading in my old phone, and so far they have been very helpful and have went out of their way to accommodate me.
All in all I feel the product, service, price, shipping have all added to me having a confidence in this company that I have never experienced before with a phone. I sincerely hope that the company are as good as all reviewers say they are, and although it is early days yet (I've only had the phone a week), I believe firmly I have made the right decision when choosing my latest handset.
Thanks guys, and well done!
we are so glad to hear that! Come back and see us soon.
Cheers!!

A few glitches, but overal great
Having come from the 5T I was very excited to be the owner of the new 7T. On the whole I can say that I am very happy with OnePlus and I think they continue to be a genuine flagship killer. That said, with companies like Oppo, Vivo, RealMe and many other companies coming through with equally fantastic devices, but half or more of the price of OnePlus devices, I find myself wondering whether OnePlus is purely going for the Apple and Samsung customers, or will stay true to their loyal customers and their original goal of offering the latest state of the art technology, but at far more afordable prices. Becasue lets be honest here, your prices are creeping up and I'm wondering whether in the next 3-4 years you'll be charging similar prices of those of Samsung and Apple!
Now the device. the 7T is everything I hoped it would be and more. That said, it has frozen on me twice in 2 weeks, when neither my face or fingerprint could unlock it and I had to revert to using my pin. I seriously hope this is just a glitch will a future update will address, as it is very worrying on such a brand new state of the art device.
Secondly, I am frustrated by the auto brightness feature, which at night, makes it impossible for me to see anything so I have to keep manually adjusting the brightness so that I can view the screen and what I'm doing. Again, it's not a deal breaker, but not something I thought would happen on a brand new top of the range device.
So in summery, would I buy another OnePlus device, yeah probably, but only if they iron out the little glitches and try to keep prices much nearer the $500 mark, otherwise I can see a host of people making the switch to the many up and coming companies in this already crowded sector of the market.

Excellence and then some
Absolutely love your guys' devices! Bought the OnePlus One when it first came out so many years ago and absolutely adored it. Bought another one for my mom then, which by the way she's still using to this day thanks to the support the OnePlus community provides in upgrading to the latest Android OS and the absolutely stellar hardware you guys provide at the unbelievably low price point. It's running Android 9 on lineage OS 16. 6 months ago my dad somehow got his hands on a brand new, fully packaged OnePlus One as well on which I similarly installed Lineage OS 16 and its buttery smooth! I myself switched to the Galaxy S8 after I tragically lost my OnePlus One but shifted back to OnePlus with the OnePlus 7t and can't believe I ever switched away! Its absolute magic what you guys do. Keep it up!
Also my mom's quite old now and gets frustrated by new things very quickly and doesn't want to let go of her OPO. Unfortunately her OPO's battery doesn't last as long as it used to, is there a place I can buy a new battery to replace her old one, would very much appreciate it!
